AIDS Awareness & Care

AIDS Awareness & Care

Reaching minds with the Word of God to stop the spread of preventable epidemics.

What We Do

Our society has suffered enormous harm from the AIDS pandemic, and despite decades of advertisements across print and electronic media, the epidemic continues to rage. Hillcross Ministry believes the mind is at the center of what drives its unstoppable spread — and so, as a Christian, theologically grounded Ministry, we exist to reach the minds of people with the Word of God, addressing not just the symptoms but the root causes behind risky and self-destructive behavior.

This Unit also carries our broader public health outreach, including seminars on drug and substance abuse among teenagers and adolescents — a closely related crisis affecting the same vulnerable young people we are called to serve.

How It Works: School & Institution Seminars

Hillcross Ministry regularly visits secondary schools, tertiary institutions, and theological colleges to present seminars that create awareness on the dangers of drug abuse, addiction, and related ills in society. Led by our Director, Rev. Daniel E. Sopuru, PhD, these seminars are built around real, practical content, including:

  • The signs of teenage drug abuse — physical, behavioral, and social — that parents, teachers, and pastors should watch for
  • The specific effects of commonly abused substances, from marijuana and opioids to inhalants and prescription depressants
  • Why teenagers turn to drugs — peer pressure, undiagnosed anxiety or depression, the desire to fit in, or a search for relief from unspoken struggles
  • Pathways to treatment and recovery, including the role of counseling, family support, and the Church in a young person’s healing
  • A biblical foundation for prevention, grounded in Scripture such as Proverbs 20:1 and Isaiah 5:11

Request a Seminar

We formally write to schools and institutions requesting permission to present these papers to students and staff, and we welcome new invitations. It is our great wish to see a nation, communities, and homes free from hard drugs — and a generation equipped to say no, grounded in the hope of Christ rather than fear alone.
